About the Program

The Quality Assurance and Information Technology Division is responsible for the program development, agency accreditation and information technology.

Within in the division is the Fire Service Training Record System (FSTRS) which tracks the training program delivered by the agency to the individual first responders throughout the Commonwealth. Troubleshooting operations will be conducted to enable the user to better utilize the system. In addition to web access support, the Virginia Fire Service community may contact VDFP via their toll free number, 1-866-4VAFIRE (823473). The user-access point of the FSTRS is a secure web-link to all individual training records which meet and or exceed Privacy Act 1971 standards.

This section is also responsible for the agencies accreditation through which they work with the Division and Program offices to develop programs that meet and exceed the national standards and accreditation requirements. Through this area the agency has 22 programs accredited with the National Board of Fire Service Professional Qualifications (PROBOARD). The development of the agencies programs is done through a development committee with oversight from the respective Program Manager.

The Information Technology functions in the agency consist of supporting the internal applications and IT equipment and being the liaison to the Commonwealths IT partner Northrop Grumman. The partnership is responsible for the day to day needs of the staff and the equipment they use to conduct their business functions.
